The autumn season is now with us and the next few weeks can be very busy for Merseyside Police. The 30th of October (known as mischief night) is a particular problem and certain young people use this period as an excuse to become involved in Anti-Social Behaviour. During this time we have to deal with an increase in emergency calls reporting acts of criminal damage, intimidation, threats etc. This has a real impact on people’s lives particularly the old who may feel they are personally being targeted. Merseyside Police will not tolerate anyone engaging in this behaviour. There will be a higher number of officers on duty over this period and we will also be working with our partners (KMBC/KHT etc). If you decide to take part in any ASB you could be arrested, fined, removed from the streets to a place of safety and we will also work with KHT which could lead to your family being evicted from their home.
Fireworks have also been an issue and already some young people have had them in their possession. Aside from the safety implications there are also laws designed to deal with the issue of inappropriate firework possession and use, some of these include:
Possession of fireworks under 18 / throwing fireworks / using fireworks after the curfew (between 11pm-7am) / Possession of Category 4 fireworks (professional display fireworks).
